For those that don’t know, Young Enterprise is the leading Enterprise Education Charity in England & Wales, that looks to inspire and equip young people to learn and succeed through Business Enterprise.
As a Judge, we are looking for evidence of innovation, successful exploitation of new ideas in all aspects of running the company, as well as demonstration of the company’s development through problem solving and innovation. The ultimate goal of the competition is to identify the best company which will go on to represent the UK at the European final.
A lot of the students who take part in the competition are aged between 15 -17, and are in most cases getting ready to take their A Levels, and in some cases their GCSE’s, so the commitment from them during the Young Enterprise Project competition is simply Amazing. This year, they were some amazing innovative products, but what I also found interesting this year was how innovative the products were, the amount of research and international sourcing for some of the products, as well how structured they delivered their marketing campaigns, presentations and trade shows.
Some example projects from this year can be seen below.

VII (http://viicompany.bigcartel.com/) , one of the competitors at this year’s London West Regional Finals created a fashionable leather accessories brand, which was a leather wrist cuff concealing a pouch accessed by a zip on the side, in which you could store small items from money to medication. A glimpse of their promotional and branding video can be seen on the you tube link below!
Phonezone (http://www.phonezoneco.com/ ) , another Young Enterprise competitor decided to provide their customers with innovative phone accessories products, that were relatively easy to use, inexpensive and manufactured by an ethically sound suppler. The products were designed to facilitate a wide range of actions such as video calling or watching movies with greater flexibility & ease just to name a few!

Finally, a Huge Congratulations to the Winners on the day , Evalesco http://www.evalesco-tea.com/, who delivered an Amazing, Delicious, Herbal Tea Product primarily focused on the health market, that enhanced and developed the well-being of individuals! Well done!
All in all, it was a super challenging day as all contestants were winners. I know how much time it takes to think on an innovative idea, take it to market, sell it, prepare company and financial reports as well as work in cohesive direction with your team. Great superb job by all, I’m sure we will be seeing some of these products in the stores soon!! !
